Department of Defense (DoD) National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship

Prospective, first-year, and second-year graduate students can apply.
NDSEG Fellowships are awarded to applicants who will pursue a doctoral degree in an area of DoD interest, namely science and engineering.

DoD Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship

All students can apply.
The SMART Scholarship for Service Program has been established by the DoD to support undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines.

Department of Energy (DOE) Computational Science Graduate Fellowship

Prospective and first-year graduate students can apply.
The DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship provides outstanding benefits and opportunities to students pursuing doctoral degrees in fields that use high-performance computing to solve complex science and engineering problems.

DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Program

Current students who have obtained Ph.D. candidacy can apply.
The DOE SCGSR program prepares graduate students for science, technology, engineering, or mathematics careers critically important to the DOE Office of Science mission, by providing graduate thesis research opportunities at DOE laboratories.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Science To Achieve Results (STAR) Graduate Fellowship

Prospective and current graduate students with at least two years left in their degree program can apply.
The EPA's STAR graduate fellowship program supports masters and doctoral candidates in environmental studies.

Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship

Current students who are in the second-to-last year of their Ph.D. can apply.
The dissertation fellowships provide one year of support for individuals working to complete a dissertation leading to a Ph.D degree. The Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship is intended to support the final year of writing and defense of the dissertation.

Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship

Prospective and current students working toward a Ph.D. can apply.
These fellowships provide three years of support for individuals engaged in graduate study leading to a Ph.D. Predoctoral fellowships are made to individuals who have demonstrated superior academic achievement, are committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level, show promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers, and are well prepared to use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.

Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowship Award

Eligible applicants for Hertz Fellowships must be students of the applied physical, biological, and engineering sciences.

Link Foundation Ocean Engineering & Instrumentation Ph.D. Fellowship Program

Students who are working toward a Ph.D. and those who have already been accepted into a Ph.D. program can apply.
The Link Foundation proudly offers one-year fellowships for students working towards a Ph.D. degree in ocean engineering or ocean instrumentation.

NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship

Prospective and current graduate students can apply.
The NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship program supports graduate students in basic and applied research in Earth science and space science.

National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Advanced Study Program (ASP)

Research advisors must apply on behalf of the graduate student.
The NCAR ASP Graduate Student Visitor Program is designed to provide NCAR staff opportunities to bring graduate students to NCAR for 3 to 12-month collaborative visits with the endorsement of their thesis advisors and in pursuit of their thesis research.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program

Prospective and current graduate students can apply.
The NOAA Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding scholarship and encourages independent graduate level research - particularly by female and minority students - in NOAA mission-related sciences of oceanography, marine biology and maritime archaeology, including all science, engineering and resource management of ocean and coastal areas.

National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program

Prospective graduate students and students who have completed no more than twelve months of full-time graduate study can apply.
The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based Master's and doctoral degrees at accredited United States institutions.
