Miami is the perfect place to experience and investigate the tropical atmosphere in a changing climate. With an expanding faculty and curriculum, now is an ideal opportunity to begin your education in Atmospheric Sciences (ATM) graduate program at the Rosenstiel School.
The ATM program is designed to prepare students with the tools, training, and education necessary to tackle critical research problems in the atmospheric sciences today. Ourfacultyare experts in a wide range ofresearch areas, including tropical meteorology, climate dynamics, cloud and aerosol processes, and atmospheric chemistry. Their expertise and guidance and our world-classfacilitiesprepare our students for successful careers in the atmospheric sciences and related fields.
The most competitive ATM applicants have a strong foundation in the physical sciences and a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in physics, mathematics, chemistry, meteorology, atmospheric science, or other related sciences. The GRE score is not required for admission. You may optionally submit your GRE score. Individual faculty members may consider GRE scores as part of a holistic evaluation of the candidates. Applicants whose first language is not English must pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of at least 550. A background in scientific programming is preferred though not required. All application requirements are available here.
Funding Opportunities
The majority of Ph.D. students are supported as Graduate Research Assistants during their tenure (typically 5 years). You can find more information on stipends, tuition, and health insurance.
